My wife and I are trying to start a homestead on a 4 acre plot of land in the Arkansas Ozarks. I'm a suburbs-boy and have only what limited knowledge I've gained from raising chickens and planting gardens the last several years on a 1/4 acre lot in town.
Now we're trying to make it happen in a much more real way on a plot that two sides of a relatively steep valley with a creek running down the middle. The land isn't flat and the mobile home that's there needs work to get it livable and I've been told would be nearly impossible to remove at this point. We're going to be raising bees and goats (I've got 2 does that have been living for the last 9 months here in town and I'll be looking to get some bucks to get them going with kids and milk) alongside the chickens and I'm going to be attempting to terrace the hillside a bit to get a garden going.
Any advice would be welcome. I'll gladly exchange help for help if anyone is in the area.
Our daughter and her husband are looking at purchasing a much larger, nicer plot of land nearby (we're praying their offer is accepted since property has become hard to come by in the area all of a sudden).
