Made a trip to the feed store today, out of corn, laying crumbles for chickens has gone up over a $1 a bag. We went by the grocery store and they had seed potatoes and onion sets in the bins. We went ahead and got what I call a bare minimum, just in case the feed store can't get them in either.

I need to get mine, too. I started my sweet potato slips a coup0le weeks ago, so I can put them in probably in a couple weeks. I have most of the seeds I want. I bet I should order anything else I want right away, while the gettin is good. If I am not already too late.

We have slips going also, plus onions, peppers, lettuce, cabbage, some flowers, and a variety of things for other neighbors. Guess I had better get the green houses ready going to be needing them soon.

Buy organic potatoes instead of waiting on seed potatoes and paying the ridiculous prices this year. I got a couple bags from Hyvee and put then in a baking pan of water, half way up the potatoes, this morning. They are already sprouting this evening.
I started my onions from seed this year. Almost all my seeds were started at the end of January.

I am real glad people are stopping by and telling us what they are doing. Sheri, my wife, has been busy transplanting, all day. we opened up our green houses to grow seedling for local people. All we are asking is you provide the potting soil and return the containers when you plant your plants. otherwise we wont be able to continue helping others. We are trying to stop the high cost of plants.

I ordered my onion sets online from Dixondale Farms, they shipped out quickly & look awesome, was going to get planted (I'm in SC), but temps dropped & have stayed below freezing at night the last 2 weeks, so haven't planted yet, I may have to put in high tunnel, along with potatoes & peas, as temps are to stay the same for another week or 2

Why don’t people use the potatoes from the bin that started growing eyes? Seed taters just look like tiny taters. Sorry if dumb question.

Hello, I have a few fabric pots with potatoes here in Los Angeles, trying not to kill them, I also have numerous onions that I can't seem to figure out, they tops are long and thick, am I supposed to trim them? How do I know when they're ready? Many of them look the same way as when they were originally planted, which seems like such a waste of water and time. Thank you
