Hi I am a Canadian married to an American citizen. We left the big city and moved to the country over a decade ago. We are older with some health issues so full homesteading is out of the question but we prep and garden and barter locally. I first saw Travis on youtube about six months ago and have become an avid follower ever since. My day is made when he posts. So much of what he says feels right to me. Canada is a real mess right now with COVID restrictions and lockdowns still everywhere, talk of a vaccine passport. I am in Manitoba. Alberta says they are opening up July 1 but with all the talk of the new delta variants I am pretty sure there is more to come. I can't even get my hair cut. We are looking at the possibility to moving to the US but we would have no health care insurance and we'd have to give up everything we have here. Of course that's better than what I fear the government has in store. Of course I'm not sure that things will be any better in the US under Biden. We could find we moved right into the middle of a civil war. So we sit watching the news and waiting for the signal to go. Meantime we stay.

Welcome Justin, it is a shame that both of our countries have slipped so far into the dark abyss. I am in agreement with you that this new variant is going to reinstate the former mask mandates, lock downs, and then exclusions to the ones that are not vaccinated. That's when I think you will see the civil war erupt. BUT, that's just my opinion. Sorry for your health issues, being in that older generation we also have health issues. I have seen our homestead suffer over the last couple of years, but I still believe with all my heart that this is still the best way to live. We garden, can our food, and raise a few chickens, but we don't go hungry. I wish you the best of luck with your decision.

Hello everyone, This is a great idea. I too am a Christian, and so a lot of things we are seeing today is not surprising. I think the idea of creating connections is so helpful, so many people would not listen to what I had to say concerning where this nation is headed. I tried over the years. Don't know if it is because of my age or what. Over the years I kept trying to add to my different skills, of pattern maker, sewer, crotchet, basket maker, gardening, cooking using every kind of alternative way, using alternative food sources just incase we are without something. Unless the Lord opens a door for me to move, I may be hunkering down in my little city, north west Georgia. So I would like to connect with a group in my area. I am alone, but would love to connect with like minded people. Grateful that I found you here. I tried to join but this site doesn't accept my email as a real email. So I will check in from time to time. |

Hi everyone. I'm in central Kansas in an Amish community. Most of which are my cousins. We have 23 acres and do our best to grow and raise what we can, and barter for what we can't. Have been prepping for many years. We are now in our retirement years and raise three grandkids.
