Well, we finally made it to retirement and thought we'd spend our time blissfully touring the country - only to see the whole landscape crumble. Or maybe earthquake? We live about 60 miles south of St Louis, but it is creeping closer. So we bought some land in south-central MO and even had it cleared. Our plan was to build a barn/garage with a great local company, since the particular builder for the house wouldn't be able to start until next year (which we knew when we made plans with him). The company for the barn told us there would be a delay since they couldn't find workers, then after a few months refunded our down-payment because they have suspended operations indefinitely. So we are kind of in limbo, and pray that next year it will still all happen. . .
The good news is we have a house, fertile land, and good neighbors here. We have started prepping and trying to learn what we need to do, but it is sad because we never really thought we would have to. Oh, well, if you want to see God laugh, tell Him your plans, right? The other good news is that we have been introduced to a world of really good-hearted and like-minded people, like those here on the forum. So thank you for the invite, and we'll see you on the way!
