Since this is a preparedness board, I was wondering, just what are you prepping for? There are many different terms floating around out there. SHTF, TEOTWAWKI, End of Times, EMP, Economic collapse, NBC attack, or whatever.

living in sw mo all my life has taught me to be prepared for most anything. Between ice storms and tornado's, i make sure to have plenty of candles oil lamps and flash lights and batteries on hand at all times. i also keep non perishables on hand as well. I know i have enough for a month at least at all times, but have started learning to make candles and preserve my own foods as well. i have picked up skills like sewing and crocheting as well. i also try to live in a home that has gas too. living in an all electric home does not fare well in my area. I have worked hard at stocking up more food since January. i know we don't have a years supply yet but working hard at getting it. we live on one income so it gets tight sometimes. i have also been picking up books for the off chance the world goes to hell and we have to care for ourselves. herbal remedies and such. i try and get whatever i can that can be beneficial in any situation we might run into in the future. i watch several different prepping and homesteading videos to learn as much as i can. unfortunately i am a hands on learner but have been picking stuff pretty quickly thank the Lord! i welcome all educating resources i can in hopes of teaching my young grandbabies so they grow up do the things! GOD BLESS

One of the things I have been working on is downloading all the how-to info I can, then backing that up on memory sticks by catagory. That way it doesn't cost a lot and if the net goes down, I have the info that I can bring up on my laptop, or share with others in need. We also have been stocking up on notebook, graph copy paper and pencils. Travis has a link on this board to a lot of free downloads of information. Even if you don't think you would use it now, get it downlaoded and saved while you are able. Think about things, like can you make a pair of shoes, sharpen a knife if that electric knife sharpener doesn't work, just the simple things could become real important.

First I started staying stocked up for ice storms. Now it's for the day we won't be allowed to shop without a "covid pass".

Hi there,
I think I'm just trying to be prepared for anything, whether it's weather related, personal financial hardships such as getting laid off from jobs, etc. But lately, rather than personal catastrophe, I've been thinking about more widespread issues, such as those you've mentioned like EMP and economic collapse. The world is definitely headed in the wrong direction, for sure, so I am trying to be prepared for anything.
In addition to stocking, I am trying to grow my skills. Learning to grow, learning to can, learning to repair and build etc. I am a serious newbie when it comes to most things, but I am learning. I started canning this year. I've always had a small garden, but I'm trying to improve my skills and coax more from my small space. I just hope to gain knowledge here that will help me grow, improve and prepare for any setback.

Carolinabluesky, glad you are here. Excited to hear you are expanding your skill sets. Growing and canning your own food is a big, big item that might just save your life.

I prep for peace of mind. Coming from a self-reliant upbringing, I was able to carry my knowledge and skills forward to when I got my first home. I was then able to expand hugely in what I did over the years - gardening, small livestock, preserving, brewing, making and mending, all of it. This was in pre-internet days, so it was library, secondhand books, charity shops, local groups. I subscribed to Mother Earth News, permaculture and gardening magazines. The internet opened up a whole new world for me, but I don't rely on it; I'm at an age now where I have a lot of knowledge in my old head.
I prep for financial collapse, social unrest, shortages, power supply disruptions. I keep an eye on the news, local, national, global.
